Position Summary
This position requires a person that has good listening skills, computer and software understanding with the ability to follow talent that has various styles of reading copy. The Operator, also has a component responsibility of the role of utility in the studio or field productions. This responsibility is assigned when there is a need to help with camera cables, props, assisting audio with mics, IFB’s or any other needs that the stage manger may have. In remote field productions this position will need to comply with remote related tasks that will be assigned to them during the  production. As a production team member, this position must be willing to learn and contribute to any show they work on. This work ethic is a core value that is instilled in all positions.
Job Responsibilities
  • The candidate must have a good understanding of the process and equipment used to operate the teleprompter. They must be able to follow the talents pacing of reading the script and understand that each talent has their own style of delivery.
  • Clean and inspect teleprompter hardware including monitors and reflective glass on cameras prior to broadcast
  • Check closed captioning of recorded or live broadcast if necessary and report any issues that arise.
  • Manage cable traffic for camera operators during shows.
  • Assist with placing mics, IFB, and other related communication equipment on talent and ensure that they are working properly and tested. Familiarity with basic audio equipment.
  • Assists the Floor Manager with any needs they have including but not limited to cables, sets, props and traffic on the studio floor
  • Ability to be flexible to perform any other production related duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
  • Associates Degree in Television Production or equivalent work experience
  • Working knowledge of computers and Windows operating systems
  • Excellent understanding of digital and software platforms with a good interruption of the terminology.
  • Experience working with multiple codecs, test equipment, computers, and non-linear edit equipment
  • 1-2 years of experience with live studio broadcast
  • Perform well under “Live” broadcast pressure and breaking news situations
  • Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills are required
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and handle lifting props, set pieces and weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • This position supports 24x7 operations, thus availability after hours, and in cases extended shifts, is a must
