Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting

Background
Our client, a Global Consumer Product Company, has engaged us to find their next Sr. Manager Corporate Accounting.  This company is a well-known global organization, and it provides excellent career opportunities for growth.
 
Responsible for managing the timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for various legal entities.  Recommends and implements process improvements and procedures.
Responsible for managing professional staff.
 
Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly and annual audit schedules
  • Interface with external and internal auditors
  • Oversee Global Consolidation process for subsidiaries
  • Oversee and coordinate timely month-end close across various legal entities
  • Oversee various corporate accounting processes including cash, inter-company, payroll, fixed assets, accruals, benefit accounting and equity transactions.
  • Responsible for recommendation and implementation of improvements and changes to accounting controls, processes, and procedures.
  • Works with departments external to accounting to ensure integrity of accounting controls, processes and procedures, SOX compliance.
  • Special projects as assigned by management.
  • Participates in integration of acquired companies.
  • Participates in global and regional project teams.
 
Technical and Operational Skills Required
  • Applies expert knowledge and understanding all financial and accounting functions, and the interdependencies of such systems.
  • Participates in planning, development, and implementation of accounting system improvements.
  • Manages work across functions, departments, or business operations.
  • Establishes operational objectives and assignments.
  • Objectives are reviewed by senior management to determine success of operation.
  • Influences and/or changes the thinking of, or gains acceptance of others.
  • Responsible for operational decisions that will affect deadlines, overall business operations and Comoany's success.
  • Makes proposals to senior management regarding financial implications of proposed tactical plans and suggests contingency plans/trade-offs for mitigating risks.
  • Participates with other managers to achieve corporate accounting plans and objectives; makes decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures the operations' effective achievement of objectives.
  • Serves as a consultative business partner on accounting business issues, integrating technical expertise/experience combined with the business objectives to drive effective solutions.
  • Typically takes the lead in developing and proposing solutions which not only affect immediate accounting operations, but other functional areas, and potentially affect company-wide operations.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Must be able to multitask and adapt to changing situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels including senior management team
  • Strong aptitude for financial systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Familiarity with ERP systems, SAP a plus.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
 
BS degree in accounting with 8 years of related experience. CPA preferred.
Experience in Global company with $1B in Revenues.  Minimum 3 years management experience.
