Sr. Human Resources Generalist

Position Objective:
The Sr. Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing support and customer service, partnering with Operations and HR leadership, applying their business knowledge and human resources expertise. As a business partner, the HRBP is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of all HR programs and processes, while managing employee relations and day-to-day HR issues regionally. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department and to management.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a point of contact for the business on HR issues to help drive business results
  • Work with business leaders to translate business needs into HR requirements and working
  • environment
  • Responsible for operational HR activities for employees in scope and partner with HR centers of
  • expertise (COE) to ensure compliance with processes related to staffing, compensation, employee relations, immigration, etc. and recommend improvements when possible
  • Accurately and timely processing of employee changes and information including but not limited to compensations, personal EE information, new hires, transfers, terminations, verifying the accuracy of all entries thru audits
  • Guide employees, supervisors, and management through investigative processes of employee
  • relations and makes recommendations when necessary
  • Stay current with, and apply, local and state employment law and labor market changes and effectively align with HR goals
  • Provides resources and assistance, where possible, to employees regarding Benefits, and LOA’s, partnering with Our client’s Benefit’s team
  • Guides employees, Supervisors and Management through investigative processes of employee relations and makes recommendations when necessary
  • Partners with Field in responding to general EE concerns, needs related to our client’s policies and procedures, investigations, etc., forwarding more complexed issues to Regional HR Manager and/or HR Director
  • Recommend innovative approaches to policies and procedures to effect continuous improvements in efficiency of department and cost saving measures
  • Accountable for the maintenance of employee records and data integrity and compiles reports for management as requested
  • In coordination with Company programs and leadership, introduce and manage processes related to succession planning, talent assessments and talent development, from support to management staff
  • Facilitate communication among and between employees and management
  • Guide management and employees on problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and litigation avoidance
  • Partner with appropriate colleagues to develop training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the division
  • Ability to collect and research data, use intuition and experience to compliment the data and present the data effectively
  • Responsible for maintaining employee files (e-files)
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Seven years minimum experience as an HR generalist (or equivalent in Specialist areas)
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, or a related degree required, SHRM certification a plus
  • Experience in a matrix, fast-paced, hourly workforce environment
  • Five years minimum experience in a union workforce
  • Ability to support a multi-state business model
  • Minimum travel required within the tristate area with possible need as business needs dictate to visit other areas
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) language skills preferred
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet
  • Experience with ATS (iCIMS or Talent Reef), HRIS (Winteam)
  • Significant business and financial acumen, with demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into HR programs
  • Relationship management
