Senior Scrum Master Opportunity

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE  

The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for the systematic execution and control of complete projects from inception to closure, primarily in an Agile / Scrum framework. This position is also responsible for providing Agile coaching to the team. This role is responsible to collaborate and participate in the commercial development and profitability of the organization. This role manages projects with the Reinsurance Manager, the CFO and IT Project Managers within Re/Insurance software or consulting companies.  
  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and perform program-level planning, budget estimation and tracking, resource planning and assessment, invoice review, financial planning and risk assessment. 
  • Provide coaching for the team in existing Agile Scrum best practices, including the proficient use of industry standard tools, technologies, and methodologies. 
  • Analyze manner in which Agile is being leveraged by the different teams currently, and provide guidance and coaching to enable team to better conform to Agile Scrum best practices as / when appropriate 
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve the processes in how the project management is performed / how projects are implemented within the organization 
  • Set priorities for deliverables based on customer roadmap 
  • Perform user story mapping. Plan ahead effectively for 12 – 18-month long projects. Anticipate the project needs and backlog planning accordingly.  
  • Lead Sprint estimation, Sprint planning meetings to identify product backlog items to be worked in a sprint and to estimate level of effort of business analysis activities. 
  • Lead daily scrum meetings, track progress by keeping the sprint backlog up-to-date, and remove impediments. Perform and lead backlog grooming. 
  • Lead sprint review meetings where sprint products are demonstrated to stakeholders. 
  • Provide progress reports including but not limited to burn-down charts/User Story Point updates, story mapping plan updates etc. 
  • Create and Update Product Backlog Items to include new or revised requirements and backlog items 
  • Produce detailed user stories outlining the acceptance criteria, and also collaborate with stakeholders and team-members to define user stories. 
  • Foster collaboration and communication between team members on business analysis issues, on process improvements, and in addressing and escalating project risks and issues. 
  • Ability to manage a team effectively, operate within a team or as an independent contributor as needed.  
  • Communicate effectively with project team (s) including sponsors, stakeholders and team members to provide project goals, risk analysis, status and requirements 
  • Manage relationships and coordinates work between IS teams, business resources and clients 
  • Proactively identify project risks and resolve obstacles that may impede a project or its deliverables or negatively impact project team productivity 
  • Manage, control and report on project budget. Implement corrective action as needed to control budget 
  • Identify, evaluate and select the best solution to general business issues 
  • Facilitate meetings with project sponsors, various business groups and senior leadership 
  • Demonstrate strong client satisfaction awareness 
  • Assist upper management with RFI & RFP, quotes and contracts as needed 
  • Quickly acquire and master the knowledge of Reinsurance & “PRIMA XL System” and complex reinsurance concepts 
  • Ensure work schedule availability, on an on-call basis, to attend to global clients’ inquiries or urgent calls, in coordination with CEO and Management Team 
  
COMPETENCIES 
  • Effective project management/ financial management / familiar with vendor processes 
  • Extensive experience with Agile delivery 
  • Ability to multi task and timely manage multiple projects. 
  • Proven experience as Agile Coach/Scrum Master and transforming teams to Agile /Scrum from waterfall or other methodologies. 
  • Hands on experience on Agile practices, Scrum process, Kanban, etc. as an Agile Coach/Scrum Master 
  • Proven experience applying Agile approach to data warehousing/ data integration and business intelligence projects 
  • Good understanding of end-to-end life cycle of ETL projects 
  • Proven leadership experience in IT delivery, building and sustaining high performing teams. 
  • Able to provide need-based coaching to team members to be agile and support agile delivery. 
  • Proficient working and leveraging traditional project management methodologies 
  • Experience working with stakeholders and creating backlogs 
  • Ability to anticipate and manage project risks

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or equivalent 
  2. Minimum  (5) five years of previous relevant experience 
  3. Experience working on software projects is a must 
  4. Scrum Master, Scrum Coach and Product Owner certifications -required 
  5. Strong and up-to-date knowledge of relevant software and industry advancements  
  6. Experience in a fast-paced Information Technology Industry / Environment.
