RN – IMCU, Registered Nurse Intermediate Care Unit
 
Summary:
Provides direct patient care in an area designated as a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
 
Detailed responsibilities:
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Nursing Competencies: Ability to understand, respects and accommodates patients preferences and needs with regards to their individual beliefs, customs and practices. Must have ability to clearly, accurately and effectively provide information to doctors, other nurses, patients, and family members. Must have ability to show compassion, patience and maintain non-judgmental approach to patients, their families as well as other employees and customers. Unit Specific Competencies: Must have clinical knowledge, skill and ability to fully and accurately complete all required unit competencies, as indicated in the unit competency check-list.
Required Work Experience: One (1) year of work experience.
Education: Associate degree in Nursing is required. BSN degree is preferred.
 
Licensure Certification: Valid Florida RN license is required.
 
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
 
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.
