Position Summary
The position requires that he/she understands the basics of lighting and how it functions in a studio and remote environment. He/ She must also understand lighting fixture including LED and power distribution systems such as dimmers,
power cabling, grids, man lifts and is comfortable on tall ladders. Candidate will also be asked to move lights
trouble shoot fixtures and cable a grid at 30’ off the ground. Position requires an understanding of lighting consoles
and intelligent moving fixtures and how they are patched into the console, DMX and Universe knowledge is important.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Must be able to take direction from the Lighting Director and perform focusing task with standard
lighting fixtures as well as moving fixtures.
  • Ability to use a lighting meter to validate foot candle and color temperature
  • Must be able to handle heavy lighting fixtures on a ladder comfortably
  • Must be able to check studio for burnt outs and meter the studio and positioning and correct exposures.
  • Wire and power lighting fixtures to a grid and identify fixture and address to the lighting console.
  • Focusing both standard and intelligent fixtures.
  • Trouble shooting all aspects of lighting problems in the studio such as power loss, data loss
 
Required Skills & Experience
  • Associates Degree in Television Production or equivalent work experience Computer skills
  • General knowledge of lighting equipment, such as, lighting consoles, lighting fixtures including conventional, LED, and Intelligent Lighting
  • Familiarity with proper safety procedures, such as, use of harnesses and other personal protective equipment; correct use of lifts and lifting techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of computerized lighting consoles specifically ETC Ion
  • 1-2 years of experience with live studio broadcast
  • Perform well under “Live” broadcast pressure and breaking news situations
  • Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills are required
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • This position supports 24x7 operations, thus availability after hours, and in cases extended shifts, is a must

Physical Requirements
  • • Ability to climb a ladder
  • • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
