Position Summary
 
The purpose of this position is to operate a handheld video camera creatively maximizing the visual framing in every shot that is taken.  You must also have a good understanding of both lighting concepts and equipment.  A comprehensive knowledge of the principles of video operations, including white balancing, shading and color correction is a must. Teamwork with active participation in setting up and breaking down a show.  Our operators have a positive attitude, and they are able to work all shifts in a dynamic, fast paced, environment.  Evening and weekend work may be required, and the main studios are located in the Miami area.  Certain positions will travel within the US.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Knowledge of handheld broadcast cameras used in studio production
  • Ability to have the equipment shoot-ready, or functional prior to each shooting
  • Ability to adjust positions and controls of cameras, troubleshoot any issues and equipment that may affect, exposure and lighting
  • Compose and frame each shot, make sure that all moves are smooth and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Properly applying technical aspects of light, lenses, and camera settings in order to achieve the effects sought by directors.
  • Able to follow the direction of the show, making sure that the shots list is on time, and at any time you are ready to adjust to any last-minute Director’s changes
  • Observe sets or locations for potential problems and to determine lighting requirements
  • Operate television handheld cameras to record scenes for television broadcasts, advertising or any other television productions
  • Select and assemble cameras, and if needed pedestals as well
  • Test, clean, and maintain equipment to ensure proper working conditions
  • Other duties as assigned, gripping etc.,

Qualifications, Skills and Ability
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, or Communications preferred
  • 3 years of experience - job experience is a plus
  • Arm-hand steadiness and near/far visualization
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems timely
  • Ability to work in an individual or team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills are required
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. Extended periods 35 lbs.
  • This position supports 24x7 operations, thus availability after hours, and in cases extended shifts, is a must
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred
