Position Summary: The Grower Accounting Manager is responsible for effective communication with farm management and grower partners. The role requires daily/weekly/monthly administration of grower information, processing of grower contracts, related paperwork and workflows. The role supports Accounting and Finance objectives, while constantly working towards improving processes and procedures as relates to grower accounting. The Grower Accounting Manager provides and distributes all accounting related information to grower premised on the terms and conditions of the business relationship. The position processes and prepares timely and accurate operational financial information for growers in compliance with predetermined deadlines.
 
Qualifications: 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Related work experience using produce accounting software
  • Agriculture industry experience a plus
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred, but not required
  • Must be capable of working a flexible schedule as workload requires
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to write reports, and communicate by email as may be needed, using correct email etiquette
  • Must be able to work as part of a team to complete all weekly and monthly accounting entries related
  • Position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment on significant matters
Responsibilities: 
  • Collect and manage all grower contracts including new contracts, renewals and amendments
  • Understand, define and monitor all applicable grower charges
  • Ensure proper accumulation and distribution of harvest, pack-out and sales information
  • Develop and analyze grower liquidations, final accounts of sales and any other routine grower reporting
  • Manage grower accounting and lot accounting reports including handling of all A/P communication with vendors/growers, assessment of  charges, lot reconciliation and lot closures
  • Keen understanding of inventory control processes and reporting within a packing house and/or warehouse / distribution center environment
  • Prepare and distribute financial forecasting and projections by grower
  • Ensures financial information to growers is prepared in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Provide operations accounting support to internal departments, customers and growers relating to produce business units.
  • Investigates and resolves related problems in a timely manner
Education / Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • At least 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
