Job summary
The EVS role is highly skilled and requires not only the complete technical mastery of the editing and playback system, but also a cool head that means an operator does not struggle to deal with unforeseen problems during live broadcasts. The role requires the loading and playing out of pre-recorded playlists, vo’s, sound bites (sots) using avid commands. Routing, recording and playing back show segments satellite feeds, and any camera iso’s the director requires. EVS operators create and provide slow- and ultra-motion replays and instant graphics as they produce on-the-fly highlights packages for tv broadcast EVS operators are responsible for operating the industry standard EVS technology that allows almost immediate replays of action sequences during soccer matches, baseball, football etc. EVS is used in almost all tv coverage of live events. The operator may also be responsible for compiling and playing out any content as needed.
  • Be an experienced and highly trained operator of EVS broadcast technology.
  • Have creative editing and shot selection skills.
  • Have used all related software programs: everts, xfile, ipdirector, media exchange etc.
  • Have good IT skills, comfortable exploring a software to maximize it potential.
  • Be familiar with media workflow and media management systems.
  • Have experience of working in live tv and/or remote broadcast operations
  • Be highly organized and methodical.
  • Enjoy working closely with a team, but also be able to make and stand over creative decisions.
  • Have touch-typing and caption-generating skills.
  • Understand all relevant naming conventions.
Required skills & experience
  • Associates degree in television production or higher or equivalent work experience preferred • computer skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • 2 years of EVS experience
  • Must be able to validate experience working with avid command, avid iso sync, miranda router, evs lsm & ip director, rts communication
  • Knowledge of airspeed, i-news, computer skills
  • Proficient in recording, clipping and creating playlists of program segments on evs and ip director
  • Knowledge of editing guidelines (correct usage of video and audio standards)
  • Ability to handle daily shows, seasonal shows
  • Ability to follow show director’s commands
  • Ability to follow lead evs operator’s directions
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the united states
  • Work under highly pressurized and stressful conditions, a flexible and positive approach is highly valued.
  • This position supports 24x7 operations, thus availability after hours, and in cases extended shifts, is a must
