Our client, a large sales organization, has engaged ttg to find their next Controller
We are looking for someone one who will roll up their sleeves and get on the trenches with the team, and someone who is ready to help building the reporting infrastructure while managing the existing operation. This opportunity will complement your traditional accounting experience with hands-on project management, team development, process improvement – this will add tremendous value to your Resume.
This is a non-traditional Controller role, as it requires consulting, coaching, process improvement and string interpersonal skills to thrive in a one-of-a-kind environment. While accounting knowledge is necessary, it will not be sufficient by itself to thrive in this role as this is not a typical back-office position.
  • Self-starter and able to implement and improve existing company processes
  • Ability to develope automated, efficient and scalable Finance processes flexible enough to support a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience of building and coaching a Finance team to improved performance
  • ERP implementation and legacy information transferring experience
  • Solid FP&A skills with three financial statement modeling
  • Lead the areas of accounting, general ledger and financial statement reporting, accounts payable, billing and tax compliance.
  • New ERP Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Support and / or review monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, AP and other general ledger review and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Develop and document improved Finance & Accounting processes
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
  • Manage, coach and grow team of 10.
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required
  • MBA or other master’s degree preferred
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred, or in process of obtaining either
  • Professional experience in a Controller or Director of Finance level, with some experience with retail sales, events and/or e-commerce
  • Advanced Excel Proficiency a must (Pivot Tables, lookups, driver-based modeling)
  • Experience in QuickBooks Enterprise or similar accounting packages
  • 5-7 years of proven working experience as a Controller and/or Director of Finance
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies
  • Excellent time management and cross functional organizational ability
  • Team player
  • Ability to seek out relevant information from others (i.e. co-workers, other employees in the office, banks, etc.).
  • Technically competent with understanding how to leverage data and analytics to derive creative, thoughtful solutions within accounting and the broader enterprise.
  • Ability to develop relationships and establish trust and command quickly
  • Ability to coach and grow a team
