ttg Talent Solutions has been engaged by its client, a well-established multinational leader in the rail transit industry, to find their next Buyer, with 3 to 5 years of experience within an industrial and/or manufacturing industry. The position is based in Milwaukee, WI.
The Buyer is responsible for source,  selection, and procurement functions of all direct, indirect materials and services, fixed assets, tooling, and production materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at affordable cost, good quality, and delivery conditions consistent with the company's policy and performance standards.
The position is further responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receiving of the products and services as assigned, consistent with requirements or as appropriately agreed with a requester.
  • Initiate purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or specials tools.
  • Evaluates, assess, and select appropriate vendors and suppliers based on capabilities, past performance, price, and quality.
  • Researches alternate vendors; and identified new and potential suppliers when necessary in accordance with company and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all vendors and suppliers are properly set up in the vendor master file.
  • Negotiates prices, delivery, credit terms, and all conditions with vendors and suppliers, and maintains accurate procurement records.
  • Maintains rapport and good working relationships with vendors, suppliers, contractors, and other internal departments.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects as requested.
  • Performs other procurement duties as required.
  • Completed 4-year Bachelor’s degree
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing, technical or industrial setting
  • Blueprint reading and or technical knowledge, a plus
  • Proficient in SAP
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Must be able to meet stringent deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Position requires open availability for travel, up to 50%, for training and supplier site visits.
