Job Summary:
Responsible for all activities associated with the operation of the Company’s Indianapolis Distribution Centre. This role acts as the site General Manager for the U.S. Distribution Center in the network and will be accountable to oversee all activates within the facility, ensuring that all product is managed to ensure customer requirements are met, inventory targets are achieved; and capacity utilization objectives are maintained at all times. The Site Associate Director is responsible for managing and accessing the routine performance of all areas to ensure all established customer service targets are being met or exceeded.
 
He or she will ensure all assets and resources are employed at the most efficient level and all areas of the facility are meeting or exceeding established KPIs and meets the agreed service levels for the markets. The site Associate Director must routinely assess his operation and prepare for the future needs of his operation by working closely with internal stakeholders to understand ongoing business requirements and future needs. This role supervises 4 functional areas: Operations, Distribution, Compliance and Inventory.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide visible, results-oriented leadership that drives continuous improvement consistent with Global Supply Operations strategic plan. Evaluate and implement process improvements and develop and direct programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility.
  • As a key member of the Global Logistics leadership team, actively participates in the development of the annual work plan and ensures that department activates are in place to deliver results consistent with the plan. Coordinates activities with other departments, customers and suppliers for alignment or resources and approach.
  • Support project teams and ensure appropriate early management rigor in delivering innovation through the wider Global Supply Chain. This includes early management of write offs for Finished Goods as a result of portfolio rationalization, new launches (internal and external) and changes in inventory levels,
  • Build and nurture individuals to standards of high performance through effective leadership, development planning and performance management and review practices.
  • Develop an annual cost-effective budget that supports the corporate strategy as well as the volumes and throughput requirements, making full consideration for Continuous Improvement needs and effectively leveraging all resources.
  • Develop and support a culture that promotes waste reduction, troubleshooting and problem solving at the front-line level through implementation of Continuous Improvement/LEAN projects and tools.
  • Engage with Company’s site Supply Chain Execution teams as well as the Global External Supply SRM teams to understand outbound network constraints and liaise with the appropriate planning teams (site and third party) to overcome short/medium term constraints identify potential bottlenecks on finished goods and propose ways to resolve them at optimal cost
  • Engage with Commercial and New Product Launch teams to ensure that product supply timelines and objectives are clearly understood and that appropriate action plans are developed and implemented to successfully support commercial objectives.
  • Proactively engage with Commercial and Planning teams to understand longer term requirements and volumes, working with Global Logistics team to set plans and initiatives in place to plan and implement appropriate capabilities and capacity.
  • Responsible for all facility requirements including the security, maintenance and general upkeep of the Indianapolis Distribution Center building.
  • Work with Indirect Procurement and other required partners to ensure all service providers are under current contracts and are performing to established KPIs. Ensure compliance with all cGMP practices and regulatory requirements and support regulatory inspections as required.
  • Drive the Safety Culture and ensure that all safety and environmental standards pertaining to equipment and facilities follow government regulations and company policy.
  • Responsible for compliance to DEA regulations on the storage and distribution of controlled substances.
  • Responsible for ensuring all individual state, federal and local licensing requirements are current and in good standing.
  • Participate and lead performance conversations with employees, including monthly one on ones, to connect on performance; check in on employee’s progress toward achieving Objectives, offer support and remove barriers; and, communicate and revisit performance expectations to reinforce and encourage high performance culture and a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Utilize open, honest, two-way communication to build trust-based relationships with employees, business partners and direct leader while continuously improving leadership capabilities by personally seeking feedback and development.

Job Requirements:
  • Education
    • University Degree / Engineering Degree Preferred.
    • Supply chain (APICS etc) qualification advantage
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities o Senior level experience in a distribution environment
    • Strong, Logistics, Warehousing and Transportation background
    • Proven knowledge of cGMP, FDA and DEA regulations and requirements
    • Demonstrated interpersonal savvy and relationship management/networking skills especially for maintaining productive rapport with internal stakeholders across the Supply Chain and Commercial functions.
    • Strong financial acumen, analytical, organizational and communication skills
    • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Logistics/Distribution with at least 5 in a Leadership Role (i.e. Warehouse Manager, Planning Manager)
    • Customer Service and Supply Planning/Scheduling experience considered an asset
